Introduction: License Service Client
As you may know, Adaptive Recognition’s Carmen® engines—including ANPR, OCR, and document recognition technologies—are protected by hardware keys. Rather than being sold directly, these engines are integrated into products such as SDKs, middleware, and hardware like cameras and scanners, with each embedded engine relying on hardware key security.
Previously, using our engines required purchasing a lifetime license and directly plugging the hardware key into the computer running the engine, with both USB and PCI Express versions available.
We’re thrilled to unveil a groundbreaking new option—a cloud-based solution for those who want to utilize our engines via cloud infrastructure or a virtual network! This new model is perfect for customers who cannot use physical hardware keys or need only temporary access to our engines. It offers the flexibility of monthly access, tailored to fit project-specific needs.
To get started, simply register on the Carmen Cloud website and subscribe to our Carmen® License Service. For Carmen Go, select the "Carmen GO" option; for other products like Carmen FreeFlow SDK or Carmen Video SDK, choose the "Carmen FreeFlow" option. The number of licenses you purchase will determine how many license locks (image reads) can operate concurrently. Once you obtain an API key and deploy the lightweight License Service Client Docker image within your environment, you can start using our products instantly and enjoy the flexibility and scalability of the subscription-based model.
The License Service Client eliminates the need for a local hardware key by leveraging Carmen Cloud's public license service.
For comprehensive instructions on setting up the environment for using the License Service Client with our engines and Carmen-based softwares, please consult the CONFIGLSCLIENT section of the Carmen® User Manual.
In the next section, we’ll explore various license management architectures, highlighting their benefits and drawbacks.
